It’s quite normal for people to ask me questions about the supported living business, after all I am a coach and consultant therefore able to provide lots of information (even things that they might not think to ask). There are of course always some people who ask more than others so I thought it might be helpful to share some questions that you might feel too shy to ask outright (although there is not such thing as a “silly” question!). You might find your question about owning your own supported living business below:
1) Do I have to buy a property? – The short answer to this is “no”, you can rent a property from a landlord and start up your own supported living business services. It is also known as “rent to rent”. Rental costs vary based on location.
2) Where do referrals (clients or service users) come from? – The majority of referrals come from the local authority, however, there are the exception, which are those who may self-refer.
3) How do I get paid? – A very important question! You are paid by the local authority for the services you deliver and again there are exceptions where those who self-refer may pay out of their private means
These are not the only questions, however they are certainly among the most common. None of them were “silly” were they? Exactly!
One of the keys to having a successful business is being able to know that you don’t know everything and that is okay. We should be learning something new every day.
You may have more questions which you would like to ask, and the good news you may find them posted in our FAQs section of our website www.supportedlivingbusinessacademy.co.uk
